"Princess Mary" tomorrow!!!
Final hours of National Poetry Month!!! Here is my absolutely favorite poem by Mikhail Lermontov!!! Enjoy!!!
"The Novice" or "Mtsyri" ("Мцыри" in Russian) - written in 1839 - published in 1840. The poem is supposedly set in the 6th century Georgian Orthodox Jvari Monastery located near Mtskheta in eastern Georgia. "The Novice" was illustrated by Leonid Pasternak (1862-1945) - personal fiend of Leo Tolstoy and father of Boris Pasternak, author of Doctor Zhivago!!! Yes, everything is connected!!!
