Second Sequel to The Three Musketeers this Summer!!!
Five books of the Lawrence Ellsworth translation - June 1 - August 31, 2026
It’s time!!! Three weeks till the second - AND FINAL - sequel to The Three Musketeers!!! Yes, we are reading ALL FIVE books!!! 30 pages a day for 90-100 days - with my weekly commentary - we’ve got this!!! Here is my post from last summer - it gives the titles of all the Lawrence Ellsworth translations!!! To glory, as always!!!
“Well, guess what?! The latest instalment of “The Three Musketeers” sequels translated by Lawrence Ellsworth was just reviewed by The Wall Street Journal!!! We are on the cutting edge of a cultural phenomenon!!!
Lawrence Ellsworth translated the entire “Musketeers Cycle” - dividing some of the volumes into multiple sections:
The Three Musketeers
The Red Sphinx - an unfinished sequel that fits chronologically between The Three Musketeers and Twenty Years After
Twenty Years After - divided into two sections - Twenty Years After and Blood Royal
Ten Years Later - divided into five sections - Between Two Kings, Court of Daggers, Devil’s Dance, Shadow of the Bastille, and The Man in the Iron Mask.
This is the first attempt to translate the entire series by one translator - and the most complete English translation to date.”
From the translation website:
1. The Three Musketeers (Book 1)
2. The Red Sphinx (Book 2 - A direct, immediate sequel to The Three Musketeers)
3. Twenty Years After (Book 3 - First part of Vingt Ans Après)
4. Blood Royal (Book 4 - Second part of Vingt Ans Après)
5. Between Two Kings (Book 5 - Part 1 of Le Vicomte de Bragelonne)
6. Court of Daggers (Book 6 - Part 2 of Le Vicomte de Bragelonne)
7. Devil’s Dance (Book 7 - Part 3 of Le Vicomte de Bragelonne)
8. Shadow of the Bastille (Book 8 - Part 4 of Le Vicomte de Bragelonne)
9. The Man in the Iron Mask (Book 9 - Part 5 of Le Vicomte de Bragelonne)
Just ordered the 5 book set of the second sequel!!! Dumas commentary begins on June 1!!! Now back to Hamilton!!!

I think I am being a bit stupid here but I can't actually work out we will be reading. There seems to be multiple titles for the sequels. I have already bought Ten Years Later. Do I need anything else? Will we also be reading the Man in the Iron Mask (which I have)?
